Nose Tip Surgery

The ideal shape of the nose is sharp and slightly lifted whereas Asians have a blunt nose with soft tissues on their nose tips. To make a beautiful nose, various ways of nose tip surgery can be implemented such as suture of the cartilage, nose cartilage transplantation, or erecting pillars in the nose.

SURGERY METHOD

The insertion of nose pillar support fixture surgery is one of the common nose surgery done to sharpen the tip of the nose. A sharp and high nose can be created by inserting a support fixture using cartilage (mainly nasal cartilage), stitching the nose cartilage, and then inserting ear cartilage.

Having a support fixture of the nose pillar can maximize the effect of rhinoplasty. With the nose pillar support fixture, the angle between the nose and lips becomes more fashionable. In addition, it also helps to maintain the effect of a lifted nose tip in the long-term.

Nose Bridge Augmentation

For some people, there is usually a curved portion at the middle of the nose bridge which is between the bone and cartilage of the nose. If there is a noticeable protrusion in this area, surgery to smoothen it out is recommended. General rhinoplasty is recommended for correcting this type of mild protrusion from the bridge of the nose.

Curved Nose Surgery

A crooked nose is most often either caused by a deviation of the nasal septum or a deformity of the nasal bone and cartilage. Nasal septal deviation is the condition where there is displacement of the internal nasal septum.

People with nasal septal deviation have symptoms like nasal congestion, inflammation of the sinuses and possibly infection. Where the crooked nose is caused by a deformity of the external bone or cartilage, the appearance is often more complex due to the involvement of both bone and cartilage. It is common to see both types of cases.

SURGERY METHOD

When correcting a bent or crooked nose, the functional considerations are important. A crooked nose is corrected in a way where the bent nose is fractured and positioned centrally. Thereafter the cartilage of the external bent nose is peeled off and positioned correctly. At the same time, to correct the bent nose fundamentally, nasal septal deviation surgery should be done in a way where the bent part of the nasal septum inside the nose is incised and positioned centrally.

If you have a severe degree of nasal septal deviation, the incised nasal cartilage is fixed onto the bent part. You might have a feeling of irritation at this point. In order to correct a severely bent nose, the bridge of the nose is incised and moved to the center. If the degree of bending is not serious, simple redressing instead of bone fracture is implemented in order to have a desirable result.

Hooked Nose Correction (Aquiline)

A hooked nose is a nose with a protruding middle section. This can be corrected with spreader grafts that are used to effectively reconstruct an internal nasal valve that may have deteriorated. Spreader grafts are made from a patient’s own septal cartilage and are placed on each side of the septum. These grafts are important to prevent mid-nasal collapse as well as to restore airflow through the nose.

Arrowhead Nose Correction

An arrowhead nose correction is needed when the tip of the nose is excessively drooped. Due to this, the tip of the nose and lips are likely to touch.

SURGERY METHOD

Surgery that is done to lift up the tip of the nose, should be done as well as surgery to weaken the strength of the muscles around the area of the lip, that causes the tip of the nose to droop.

Big & Blunt Nose Surgery

A blunt nose is one with thick, soft tissue, so the tip of the nose looks round and blunt, resulting in a face that looks less define and angular. To correct this, surgery for reducing the size of the tip of the nose is required.

SURGERY METHOD

This surgery reduces the size of the cartilage in the nose tip, and incises the excess soft tissue that is accumulated inside the nose. Through this correction, the roundish blunt nose can be changed into a distinctive and sharp nose.

Long Nose

Asians commonly choose rhinoplasty that lifts up a droopy nose, whereas Westerners usually reduce the size of large noses. Long nose correction can be done. This surgery is closely related to hooked nose correction.

SURGERY METHOD

When reducing the size of a nose, it is recommended that the size of the nasal bone and cartilage are reduced. To reduce the size of the nasal bones, the height and width of the nose should be reduced correspondingly.

To lower the height of the nose, precise amounts of underlying bone and cartilage are removed or rearranged to provide a newly shaped structure for a more definite proportion as desired. Long nose correction tends to be more complex than a normal rhinoplasty operation.

Short Nose

The length of the nose is determined by the perceived distance from its starting point at the root of the nose between the eyes down to the tip-defining points. A short nose often involves an over-rotated, upturned tip that brings the tip-defining points closer to the nasal root.

SURGERY METHOD

A short nose can also be caused by a low radix which leads to a lower nasal starting point at the root of the nose. Radix grafting can be used to raise the bridge in this area and lengthen the nose. One of the most common procedures done during rhinoplasty surgery is taking down a dorsal hump or bump from the bridge.

If the upturned nose is caused by a previous surgery then the existing scar needs to be released to allow for movement of the tip in a less rotated position. The best timing for revision surgery strikes a balance between allowing the post-operative tissue swelling to settle down and the nasal skin to relax versus not wanting to wait too long as the nasal skin will continue to shrink, which can make it more difficult to stretch it out over the newly reconstructed internal nasal framework.

There are several cartilage grafting techniques that can be used to create the proper internal nasal structure to allow a rhinoplasty surgeon to counter-rotate the nose and maintain it in this new position.
