Hair loss is a significant problem amongst both men and women. Treating hair loss requires detailed examination of the scalp, hair follicle health and hair type. Importantly, gender plays a significant role in determining the most suitable treatment modality.
Female hair loss can be caused by several factors, including thyroid disease, high fever, diet, childbirth, and certain medications. Treatment begins with a detailed examination, sometimes a hormone profile (blood test) and microscopic assessment of the hair follicles. We are the first (and currently only) clinic in Singapore to have the Sunetics hair laser, and we offer this completely painless and non-invasive approach to hair rejuvenation to all our hair loss patients as part of their treatment program.
Male pattern baldness is a readily treated problem, using a similar but more aggressive approach. Results are generally excellent, and males have the option of utilising Finasteride, which is an oral medication taken daily.
Hair transplant is an option available to both men and women in Singapore. This procedure involves taking a donor strip of hair (usually from the lower back of the head), obtaining single follicular units (FU) using a microscope and then transplanting them into areas of hair loss. The transplanted follicles then grow to add volume and thicken thinning areas, including scalp, eyebrows, eyelashes, and beards.
