Surgery to enhance the eyelids is called blepharoplasty. It is a surgical procedure that aims to remove excess fat and skin that makes us look old and tired, and can also include a muscle tightening procedure to give the eye an almond shaped appearance. Blepharoplasty is for an eyelid that is naturally without crease or a poorly defined eyelid crease. The result makes the eye appear slightly bigger, rounder and good for makeup purpose. It is also used to treat visual obstruction due to dermatochalasis (excess skin).
The eyelids can be enhanced using non-surgical, minimally invasive and surgical methods. For patients who are keen to have a refreshing look and are comfortable with undergoing non-surgical treatments once every 12-18 months, we offer the Thermalift protocol. Using a combination of radiofrequency-based instruments (eg Thermage, Therma 6), droopy eyelids can be lifted in a matter of minutes and with no significant downtime. Results are satisfying when droopiness is the only problem.
The minimally invasive option is based on the principle of a threadlift, and has all the benefits of this technique. Although performed without general anaesthesia, the procedure and recovery are almost completely painless. Mild swelling can be expected for up to a week. Results are supremely natural, but may have to be repeated after a period of several years.
